Please introduce yourself! Who are you, how long have you been an elopement photographer and what first got you into photography?
Hey!! I’m Jordyn, a Lower Mainland based wedding and elopement photographer! I’ve had the pleasure of celebrating love as my job since 2019 when I graduated with my professional photography diploma. It was that program that gave me the skills, confidence, and push I needed to jump into the wedding industry and start making memories with you all!
Summarize your photography style in 15 words or less.
I focus on creating timeless photos that will last a lifetime and then some.
What about your working style? What can couples expect with you as their Vancouver elopement photographer?
I’m here to capture those epic belly laughs, the way you melt and find comfort in each other’s arms, and your joy as you adventure through life together! Although I wouldn’t say I “pose” you, I am all about giving you directions to pull out and show off your personalities. There will be moments where I take a step back and let things naturally unfold, but all you need to worry about is being madly in love with each other and I’ll handle the rest!
Why do you love elopements? Why should couples consider eloping in Vancouver?
Elopements have a special ability to take away all other distractions and perfectly highlight what this day is all about: you and your love. Eloping isn’t for everyone, but if you’re a couple who thrives on intimacy, wants to have freedom to adventure and make epic memories on your wedding day, or just wants to save the big bucks for your honeymoon or a new house – then I’d say you’re elopement material and I would 10/10 recommend it.
What are your favourite elopement locations in Vancouver?
The beauty of eloping in Vancouver is that you will never run out of options on where to shoot. I’ve shot over 100 weddings and elopements all around the Lower Mainland over the past few years, and I am still finding new and incredible places to elope!
Right now, my top favourite locations are:
- Golden Ears Provincial Park: When I say it’s magical there, I mean it. You not only have a gorgeous lake surrounded by the most stunning, snow capped mountains, but you have the most beautiful moss covered forest just up the road. It’s amazing.
- Stanley Park: I feel like this place has a little bit of everything. We got the ocean, incredible views of the city, a fun lighthouse, rose gardens, and gorgeous forests! Really, if you’re looking for it, Stanley Park probably has it.
- Yaletown: I love this area for all the city vibes! There’s a few places you can host your ceremony at, such as the OPUS hotel, Brix and Mortar, or in one of the many cute parks there. Afterwards, we can go on a little adventure and get you all those epic city life photos!
What are your best tips for couples eloping in Vancouver? How can they prepare for their elopement photography session?
My #1 tip for planning your elopements (and weddings in general) is to hire people that you connect with! Your photographer and wedding officiant are people who play a huge role in your day! Surrounding yourself with a team that you trust, who take time to get to know you and your story, and who bring you joy… that, my friends, will be the biggest gift you can give yourselves for your special day.
I believe that your photography session should be a collaborative effort! I want to get to know you two, your story, what makes your heart happy, and hear all about your hopes and dreams for your elopement! We’ll connect with a Zoom or phone call and create a little game plan for your day so we can make all those beautiful dreams come true!
What do couples get wrong about wedding or elopement photography?
I feel like a lot of couples think that they have to make their wedding day look like what you would find on Pinterest, otherwise their photos will flop. I’m here to tell you that you can make your wedding or elopement as unique as your thumbprint. Fill it with things that make you happy because in the end, your wedding is not for social media consumption. Instead, it’s a chance to celebrate your commitment to each other; so make it a celebration you enjoy!
Want to hike that mountain over there and have your ceremony among the wild flowers? Yeah, let’s do it! Want to stop and grab a snack at McD’s? Heck yeah, I’ll take some nuggs! Want to get married in your pjs and spend your morning drinking coffee and making pancakes? Bring it on! No matter what your day looks like, I promise we’ll get incredible photos that are a celebration of your unique love.
Share a favourite elopement memory with us!
One of my all time favourite elopement weddings was a beautiful blend of intimacy and celebration! This couple didn’t really love being the centre of attention, so instead of having a traditional ceremony, we took a helicopter to a local mountain where they said their “I-do’s” elopement style.
It was intimate, raw, and a moment that none of us will ever forget. After soaking in the views, we flew back to their venue where all their closest family and friends were waiting to feast and party it up with them! This wedding was proof that you truly can have the best of both worlds.
When you’re not photographing elopements or weddings, how do you like to spend your time?
When I’m not shooting or editing, you can find me at a local coffee shop, exploring around my hometown, or with my family and friends absolutely destroying them at Uno.
