The History of Young Hip & Married
The story of Young Hip & Married starts back in 2004—with a wedding, of course. After just over a year of knowing each other, Shawn and Erica Miller got hitched! Their journey inspired them to want to help others get married and have the tools to invest in their marriage.
With Shawn’s coaching training and Erica’s background in psychology, the Millers started a relationship coaching company in 2010. They quickly teamed up with a friend who was a wedding officiant so they could offer both coaching and officiating to engaged couples.
As requests for weddings kept rolling in and with a steady stream of coaching clients, the business grew. By the end of their second year, Shawn officiated his first wedding and fell in love with officiating!
At the same time, Erica’s photography business was growing. It was clear that Shawn and Erica were onto something and began to bring on more officiants, photographers and coaches (eventually partnering with Thrive Couples Coaching) to grow Young Hip & Married across North America.
Young Hip & Married Today
Today, Young Hip & Married operates in cities across Canada and the United States with our team of 40+ wedding officiants, elopement photographers and support staff.
We’ve been honoured with the Best Wedding Officiant title at the BC Wedding Awards for seven years in a row, featured in publications such as Thrillist, JuneBug and Rocky Mountain Bride, and awarded Couple’s Choice by WeddingWire and Best of Weddings by The Knot.
In 2023, we married over 800 couples across North America, as well as launched our Ceremony Shop to serve couples around the world. Whether in person or online, we can’t wait to help more couples plan unique wedding ceremonies that fit who they truly are!
